KIIT Deemed University, Bhubaneswar bagged a double by winning both the men’s and women’s titles in the All-India Inter-University Rugby Championship, which was hald at Punjabi University in Patiala from March 15 to 17, 2018. Altogether 24 men’s teams and 20 women’s teams participated in this event.
In the finals, KIIT men beat home city opponent s Utkal University 24-14, while KIIT women humbled host Punjabi University 25-5. Champion and runners-up teams in both categories qualified to join the World University selection trial, scheduled to be held at KIIT University here on May 27 and 28, 2018. The World University Rughy 7s Championship is billed to take place in Namibia from July 12 to 14, 2018.
